A middle-aged man described as “well-dressed” robbed Strouds Linen Warehouse at gunpoint Sunday morning, escaping with about $2,000 after tying up five employees, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

At 10:05 a.m., shortly after the store at 24291 Avenida de La Carlota opened, a man wearing a tweed jacket and gloves asked a clerk to show him pillows in the rear of the store, Lt. Larry Richey said. The man then pulled a handgun and forced the clerk into the store’s office, which contained four other employees who had just arrived at work.

One employee was forced to open the safe, and then all five women were told to lie face down on the floor. Their hands were taped together and about $2,000 was taken from the safe and the employees’ purses. The robber and an accomplice cut phone lines and fled.
