Favored Lemhi Go caught Indian Chris and scored a 3 1/2-length victory in the Grade II $100,000 La Prevoyante Handicap at Calder Race Course in Miami on Sunday.

The field for the race was reduced from 12 to six when rain resulted in a switch from the grass to a sloppy main track.

Lemhi Go, ridden by Mike Gonzalez, was the 2-1 favorite in the 1 1/2-mile feature for fillies and mares. Silvered finished third.

The winner, carrying top weight of 117 pounds, paid $6.20, $3.40 and $2.40. Indian Chris paid $3.20 and $2.40. Silvered returned $2.80.

Lemhi Go led early in the race, but Indian Chris was in front by a length turning for home.

Lemhi Go regained the lead before the eighth pole and pulled away.

Indian Chris was second by 2 1/2 lengths over Silvered.

It was nine lengths back to Forladiesonly, followed by Klassy Individual and Prominent Feather.

Lemhi Go, a 5-year-old Virginia-bred daughter of Lemhi Gold, is owned by Diamond Stable.

She won six races in 1991 and last year won five times, earning $182,404 and finishing in the money in 11 of 18 starts.

The switch from grass to the main track might have helped Lemhi Go, who has never finished in the money in her four starts on grass.

R.D. Wild Whirl took the lead early under former Southland jockey Robbie Davis and widened it to four lengths by the finish of Aqueduct’s $87,600 Paumonok Handicap in New York.

The 5-year-old son of Island Whirl-Naughty Rita covered six furlongs on a fast track in 1:09 3/5.

R.D. Wild Whirl earned $52,560 for Robert W. Dommel with his sixth victory in his last 12 starts.

Forty Something was second in the field of eight older horses.

R.D. Wild Whirl returned $7.20, $5.20 and $4.40. Forty Something paid $6.60 and $4.20.

Fast Turn returned $5.00.
