CANCUN, Mexico —
Police said Monday that as many as 14 Americans and four Canadians were among 25 tourists killed when their bus overturned Sunday on a rain-slick road after striking a power pole.
Police said that the bus, carrying 52 passengers to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, apparently was speeding. The driver reportedly swerved to avoid a car parked alongside the road and lost control.
Six victims were reported to be from Wisconsin; two others were identified as being from New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
