In response to “Protests Bar U.N. Chief From Offices in Somalia,” Jan. 4:
At least some people have not forgotten that the U.N. Security Council is controlled by the old colonial powers that for centuries have exploited at the end of a gun the natives of Africa, Asia, India, Indochina, Latin America, Malaysia and any other country whose resources they coveted.
It is not only the sun that never sets on the spoils of colonialism, but the sun has never set, even now, on the legacies of hate, dissension and slave trading that the Western powers inflicted on the world.
At least some people remember and have the courage to throw a rock when the same old powers debate, in all seriousness: Should we use force to subdue the natives?
