U.S. Chip Makers’ Book-to-Bill Ratio Flat in December: The semiconductor industry’s book-to-bill ratio was unchanged in December from an unrevised 1.13 in November, the Semiconductor Industry Assn. said. December bookings--orders based on a three-month moving average--rose 1.2% to $1.92 billion in December from $1.89 billion in November. Bookings were 38% above year-earlier levels. Billings--shipments based on a three-month moving average--rose 1.7% to $1.7 billion from $1.67 billion. Billings were 30.9% higher than a year ago. A book-to-bill ratio of 1.13 means that for every $100 worth of products shipped, manufacturers received $113 worth of new orders.
