Sunbeam Dismisses Top Officer: Appliance maker Sunbeam-Oster Co. said it dismissed Paul Kazarian, 37, as its chairman, president and chief operating officer over the weekend. Sunbeam spokeswoman Leslie Uyeda said Kazarian “had lost the confidence of the board.” The company declined to comment further. However, there was speculation on Wall Street that top managers at Sunbeam threatened the board that they would quit unless Kazarian was dismissed. The New York Times, quoting unnamed executives, reported in today’s editions that the managers apparently resented Kazarian’s control over detail and his insistence that they carry beepers and work seven days a week.
