Miller Brewing, Molson Breweries Form Alliance: Miller Brewing Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Philip Morris Cos., will acquire the U.S. import operations of Molson Breweries and the U.S. marketing and distribution rights for Molson brands as part of a new alliance designed to strengthen the marketing and distribution of Molson brands in the United States. As part of the new alliance, Miller will market and distribute Foster’s Lager and Foster’s Light in the United States in addition to the full line of Molson beers. The agreement will provide for Miller to acquire a 20% partnership interest in Molson Breweries, the leading Canadian brewer. The Molson Companies Ltd. and Foster’s Brewing Group, partners in Molson Breweries, will each retain 40%.
