Quaker Oats Co. announced the promotions of Philip A. Marineau to president and Robert S. Thomason to senior vice president in charge of international grocery products.
Marineau, previously executive vice president, will retain his title of chief operating officer, Quaker said in a statement.
Marineau, 46, joined Quaker in 1972. He fills a position held by Quaker Chairman William D. Smithburg since the fall of 1991. Smithburg was temporarily given the title upon the retirement of Frank Morgan, Quaker spokesman Ron Bottrell said.
Thomason, 48, previously president of European operations, will report to Marineau in his new position of overseeing Quaker’s food and pet food businesses in Europe, Latin America and the Pacific Rim.
