Sunbeam-Oster Co.’s board of directors has terminated Paul Kazarian as chairman and president.

It named Charles Thayer, former chief executive at PNC Financial Corp. and a Sunbeam board member since 1990, as interim chairman and established a new office of the president made up of several executives.

Sunbeam, whose products range from household appliances to outdoor furniture, said in a statement that Kazarian’s departure is in the best interests of shareholders.
