WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : UCLA’s Winning Streak Ended by Oregon State

Tanja Kostic scored 26 points and had nine rebounds to lead Oregon State to a 71-67 Pacific 10 Conference victory over UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday night, ending the Bruins’ seven-game winning streak.
The Bruins, 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-10, had not lost since Dec. 22, against Ohio State.
The Beavers took the lead for good on a basket by Missy Smith with 8:54 to play that madethe score 53-52, and led by as many as 12 points thereafter.
Smith finished with 16 points and Sonjhia Fleming 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Beavers (8-5, 2-2).
Nicole Anderson led UCLA with 20 points, five assists and eight steals. Natalie Williams had 19 points and 20 rebounds for the Bruins.
No. 15 USC 78, Oregon 69--Senior guard Joni Easterly scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Trojans past the Ducks in a Pac-10 game at USC’s Lyon Center.
The lead changed 22 times until the Trojans (10-2, 4-0) went ahead for good, 57-56, on Easterly’s 16-footer with 8:58 to play.
Easterly then scored five points during a 7-0 run that gave USC a 69-60 lead with 5:54 remaining.
Lisa Leslie added 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for the Trojans.
Cal State Long Beach 69, Pacific 64--Melissa Gower had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the 49ers (4-9, 3-3) past Pacific (9-3, 2-2) in a Big West Conference game at Long Beach.
