Giving Credit for Ahmanson
According to “Calabasas To Sue Over Ahmanson Ranch Plan,” Jan. 8, the developer is planning to gate Thousand Oaks Boulevard to prevent cut-through traffic. I’m not clear on the exact plans nor present conditions, but last year Agoura Road was fenced off in that region, requiring bicyclists to use the 101 Freeway.
As the area becomes more populated, there will be more potential for inter-locality trips, which is what the opponents are worried about. If provision is made for bicyclists to pass through the artificial barriers, there should be no adverse effects and use of bicycles would be encouraged.
