Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were searching Sunday for three men suspected in separate armed robberies of a Canyon Country hair salon and a Saugus cafe.

Lt. Barbara Persten said the robberies Saturday were the latest in a string of holdups in the Santa Clarita Valley over the past week. She was uncertain if the recent crimes were committed by the same groups of robbers. No one was injured in either attack Saturday.

At 4 p.m., two men held up a 47-year-old man and stole about $4,100 of the day’s receipts as he left the Saugus Cafe in the 25800 block of San Fernando Road, Persten said. One of the men pointed a knife at the victim while the other stood behind him with a shotgun, Persten said.

The men ran to a car and escaped.

About three hours later, a man armed with a handgun walked into the Supercuts hair salon in the 19400 block of Soledad Canyon Road and ordered a 19-year-old employee to give him about $300 from the cash drawer, Persten said.

The man fled on foot.
