The pair also enjoyed tennis and fishing. Schweitzer was an avid horseman and hiker.
Rothschild was a longtime resident of the Conejo Valley, and was studying at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, associates said.
Schweitzer is survived by a son, Michael; daughter, Melissa; and father, Howard Schweitzer. Rothschild is survived by a son, Craig; daughter, Lisa; mother, Mary Carson; father, Alvin Rothschild and three brothers.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Cal Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks.
