Advantage Life Expecting: Advantage Life Products Inc., which markets CigArrest, soon will be in the business of stopping diaper rash as well as smoking. The Laguna Hills company announced Tuesday that it has signed a letter of intent with a baby products manufacturer to buy a line of non-prescription medications, vitamins and soaps.

Under the agreement, Advantage Life, based in Laguna Hills, will acquire a to-be-formed subsidiary of Natural Child Care Inc. in Armonk, N.Y. The new unit will own the complete Natural Child Care product line and other assets, including 336,000 shares of Natural Child Care stock.

Both companies are traded on the NASDAQ market. Natural Child Care plans to seek a merger partner to go into another line of product manufacturing, the companies said.

“We’re attracted to baby products because they are a growth industry,” said Jim Stapleton, vice president of Advantage Life. “We can expand the distribution of these baby products to all of our retailers.”

Advantage Life’s CigArrest is sold in 35,000 stores nationwide.
