Temple City : Absences Delay Hearing
After only three of the City Council’s five members answered the roll call for the second meeting in a row, a public hearing that drew about 20 residents was rescheduled Tuesday.
The nearly full chamber thinned out after debate on the proposed extension of Camellia Avenue and down-zoning of property belonging to the Pacific Ackworth Foundation was delayed until Feb. 2.
Pacific Ackworth wants to sell almost two acres of a 4 1/2-acre parcel to Alexander/Catania Development Inc., for the development of seven single-family lots.
The council offered to record the statements of any residents who could not return for the hearing before the full council, but there were no takers.
Councilman Harry Budds asked that the importance of attendance be stressed to the missing council members, Bobbie McGowan and Thomas Breazeal.
Councilwoman Mary L. Manning blamed the absences on unforeseen events. McGowan is the only member who missed both meetings.
