ALTADENA : Hillside Project Foes Must Pay Fees or Abandon Case
A Superior Court judge has ruled that opponents of the hillside La Vina project must pay $55,000 in attorney’s fees by Tuesday to the other side or drop their case.
In order to proceed, Judge Robert H. O’Brien ruled Friday, opponents of the 272-home project must compensate Los Angeles County and the project developers for failing to meet a Nov. 16 deadline to file documents.
The La Vina project has divided the community since 1986, when Pasadena developers Cantwell-Anderson Inc. bought the 220-acre site at the edge of the Angeles National Forest and proposed a development there. Opponents say it would ruin a tranquil rural neighborhood, once a Gabrieleno Indian campground. Supporters say it will provide much-needed jobs and contracts for the community.
