Four people suspected of possessing about $8,000 worth of methamphetamine were in custody Thursday.

Agents with the state Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement went to the Ramada Inn Anaheim on East Katella Avenue to investigate a reported methamphetamine lab in operation, said agent Gary Hudson.

Before agents reached the room, however, two suspects walked to their car and drove off, Hudson said. Agents and police tried to pull the driver over, but he drove onto the Santa Ana Freeway and began speeding north.

With police cars following, the two men in the car tossed out about 50 bags containing one-half to one ounce of methamphetamine each, Hudson said.

“They were trying to destroy the evidence,” he said.

Aided by a Sheriff’s Department helicopter, police stopped the car on the San Gabriel River Freeway in Santa Fe Springs.

Police arrested the passenger, identified as Larry Sessions, 22, of Downey. The driver fled the scene on foot and escaped, officials said.

Narcotics agents returned to the Ramada Inn and arrested three more people suspected of selling methamphetamine. The three were identified as James William Harvey, 25, and Judy Ann Bock, 32, both of Anaheim, and Richard Dwayne Bockman, 26, of Yorba Linda.

Agents did not find any evidence of a methamphetamine lab in the room, Hudson said.
