Cuba’s Communist authorities are planning to reinforce armed vigilante patrols in the Havana region to combat an apparent increase in cattle rustling caused by nationwide shortages of meat.

Cuban television recently reported the trial of eight men accused of raiding a state cattle farm on the outskirts of Havana. They allegedly killed eight cattle and injured several others, taking away the meat for sale.
