Israel to Return Sinai Artifacts to Egyptians
Associated Press
JERUSALEM —
Israel is returning to Egypt 4,500-year-old jars and other artifacts unearthed from the Sinai desert during the years the Jewish nation held the peninsula.
Israel dug up the objects between 1967, when it captured the desert during the Middle East War, and 1982, when it was returned as part of a peace agreement.
Tel Aviv University said that Israel will give back the artifacts by the end of 1994. The objects also include jars, flint tools, grinding stones, axes and bracelets.
