Jean Harris Is Released After 12 Years in Prison

VALHALLA, N.Y. —
Jean Harris, the headmistress who fatally shot “Scarsdale Diet” Dr. Herman Tarnower, is free after 12 years in prison. Harris, 69, was released Friday night from a hospital where she was recovering from a blood clot in her leg. The complication arose after she underwent quadruple bypass heart surgery.
