Clinton’s Inauguration

The welcome inaugural festivities for incoming elected U.S. presidents, such as what we recently witnessed for President Bill Clinton, are ubiquitously celebrated with all the pomp and circumstance, glitter, glamour, hoopla and tributes galore. These are all fitting for someone who will assume the highest office of a powerful country, the United States.

However, isn’t it equally befitting to give the outgoing president a significant tribute for having assumed leadership of the tough functions of the U.S. presidency and at least recognize his achievements? This will somehow ease the poignant feeling of defeat that the outgoing president may feel. I believe that all past presidents should consider themselves as “winners” for their past roles in whatever contributions they’ve made to America.
