Paul Conrad’s Retirement

Share

With Paul Conrad’s retiring, it is like seeing the end of a rainbow (Jan. 24-25). He had the courage of his convictions. He could make you feel good or fighting mad. His cartoons were topical, current and forceful. He made you think. Love him or hate him.

His cartoon style was crisp, to the point, with a dash of humor. He told the truth, but sometimes the truth hurts. I have been reading The Times for 29 years and I have enjoyed his satirical offerings with relish.

Editor’s note: Although Paul Conrad will be formally retiring from The Times at the end of March, he will continue to draw syndicated cartoons, at a reduced frequency, and The Times will be running them twice a week, along with the works of other cartoonists.
