Daniel E. Lindquist; Television Director, Producera

Daniel Eugene Lindquist, award-winning television producer and director of commercials and videos, has died at a Burbank hospital. He was 65.

A Burbank resident, Lindquist died Thursday of complications of pneumonia, said his daughter, Taryn Lindquist of San Francisco.

Born in Bakersfield, Lindquist came to Glendale as a child and graduated from Glendale High School in 1945. After serving two years as a radioman in the U.S. Navy, he earned a bachelor’s degree in radio and speech from Occidental College in 1951. Lindquist’s career in television began during college when he worked summers as a page at NBC-TV. He was employed at KTLA-TV in the early 1950s and started as a stage manager at KCOP-TV in 1953, working his way up to television producer and director.

In 1958, Lindquist joined Guild, Bascom & Bonfigli Advertising Inc. as executive producer and head of television broadcasting. In 1967, he and Sid Avery formed an advertising production company in Hollywood called Avery/Lindquist Productions Inc. Lindquist later founded his own production company, Tamarand Films Inc., in Burbank in 1975.

Lindquist’s credits include television commercials for Toyota, Mattel Toys and Western Airlines. He also produced and directed country music videos for Glen Campbell and Hank Williams Jr.

In addition to his daughter, Taryn, Lindquist is survived by his son, David Lindquist of Taipei, Taiwan; daughter Tracey Lindquist-Pomo of Brea; parents Carl and Mary Jane Lindquist of Carlsbad; sister Laura Joan Elrod of Tustin, and a granddaughter.

A funeral is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Burial will be private. Forest Lawn Mortuary, Hollywood Hills, is handling the arrangements.
