Agassi, whose ranking fell to No. 17 a year ago, beat Patrick McEnroe, 6-0, 6-2, in the second round of the Volvo tournament Wednesday night at San Francisco.
“This is the most prepared I’ve been starting a tournament and especially this year,” Agassi said.
Earlier, sixth-seeded Jeff Tarango defeated Robbie Weiss, 6-2, 7-5, and No. 8 Marcos Ondruska of South Africa overcame Jamie Morgan of Australia, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
