Clinton Plans Live Radio Address

WASHINGTON — President Clinton plans to make a live radio address to the nation on Saturday and is considering making the speeches a “regular feature” of his presidency, aides said Thursday.
“It’s an opportunity for him to address the nation about topics of importance,” Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers said.
Communications Director George Stephanopoulos said Clinton’s topic on Saturday would be the economy. The five-minute address will emanate from the White House, Myers said.
“He’s going to be doing it this Saturday and look toward possibly making it a regular feature,” Myers said.
Former President Ronald Reagan made weekly radio addresses to the nation, and former President George Bush made them occasionally.
