Firecracker Ban Not Consistent

Share

Please explain why firecrackers are permitted to celebrate the Asian New Year (“Asian New Year Starts Off With a Lot of Bangs,” Jan. 24) but not to celebrate our nation’s independence on the Fourth of July.

Is it that our independence is deemed less important than the Asian New Year, or that persons of Asian descent are less worthy of protection from firecracker injuries than the rest of us?

I suggest that firecrackers be permitted for both the Asian New Year and the Fourth of July, or for neither.
