Supt. Nicoll, Newport-Mesa Schools
When you divide the number of non-administrative employees--from teachers to custodial help (1,500) --in the Newport-Mesa School District by the number of administrators (64), the figure 23.44 indicates that each administrator supervises fewer people than each teacher has to handle in pupil numbers in his or her classroom each day! And hardly anyone believes an administrator makes less than a teacher.
Over-simplification? No doubt! But, it’s something to think about.
