Newport Beach’s Smith Wins Marathon Event

LAS VEGAS — Kathy Smith of Newport Beach won the women’s open division Saturday in the 27th Las Vegas Marathon.
Smith finished in 2 hours 41 minutes 19 seconds. Eniko Feher of Hungary was second in 2:43:24, followed by Maria Lantsova and Natalya Balyakina, both of Moscow. They had identical times of 2:44:03.
