Holua Leads Race to Puerto Vallarta

Brack Duker’s Santa Cruz 70 Holua from Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club made the best of light winds to stretch its lead slightly on Sunday, the second day of Del Rey YC’s race from Marina del Rey to Puerto Vallarta.

Holua averaged only 7 1/4 knots for a modest run of 174 miles, but that was better than any of the other dozen boats. Holua was 10 miles ahead of its nearest rival, Fred Kirschner’s Kathmandu from Coronado YC.
