A man arrested last November in connection with the shooting death of a gang member was shot in the stomach in a drive-by shooting in Santa Paula Saturday night, police said Monday.
John Julian Lopez, 18, of Santa Paula was shot in the lower abdomen outside a friend’s house on Saticoy and Sycamore streets, police said.
He was treated at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital and released. Lopez was arrested last November in the Halloween shooting death of 18-year-old gang member Joey Lara of Santa Paula. He was convicted on a gun charge, but no other charges were brought against him because of lack of evidence, police said.
Two other weekend shootings in Santa Paula left a man with an injured wrist, and a car full of holes, police said Monday.
Leonard Olvera Jr., 18, of Santa Paula was treated at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound to his wrist Saturday morning, police said. Olvera would not tell police where the incident occurred.
In the third incident, five men and a boy in a car at Ventura and Palm streets were shot at three times by someone in a nearby carport Sunday morning, police said. No one was injured.
