The Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley was awarded $12,000 Tuesday by Los Angeles County supervisors for operating a center for children from low- and middle-income families.
The supervisors unanimously approved spending Community Block Grant funds it received from the federal government for the Pacoima-based program. Supervisor Ed Edelman requested the funding, which will come out of his district office budget.
Edelman, who represents Pacoima, said the center helps children between the ages of 7 and 17, providing them with citizenship and leadership services, recreation, counseling, health services and physical education opportunities. The money will be used mostly for personnel. The agency is at 11251 Glenoaks Blvd.
