Western Digital Enters Pact: Western Digital Corp., a maker of computer components, said Wednesday that it has signed a software license agreement with Symantec Corp., a Cupertino-based publisher of anti-virus software.

Under the agreement, Symantec will provide technology from its Norton AntiVirus software to be incorporated into Irvine-based Western Digital’s Immunizer product.

The Immunizer provides built-in protection for computer hardware in the form of chips for the computer’s motherboard, or main processing circuit board. The chips detect programs that act like viruses before they do damage to a computer’s hard disk drive.

Western Digital has also licensed the Immunizer product to IBM.
