SANTA CLARITA : Plan Offered for Metrolink Security

Share

Responding to safety concerns at the city’s Metrolink station, Santa Clarita officials Friday unveiled a six-phase security program to combat graffiti and vandalism.

The action comes a week after a Valencia man reported his vehicle and camera equipment stolen from the station lot while he was at work in downtown Los Angeles.

The phases range from continuing the current surveillance and patrols by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies to stationing a deputy at the site around the clock. City officials said, however, they don’t expect they will need to implement all six phases.

If the city determines that intermittent surveillance by sheriff’s deputies is inadequate, Deputy City Manager Jeff Kolin said, they will install closed-circuit television monitors at the Soledad Canyon Road station at a cost of about $40,000 for the first year.
