LOS ALAMITOS : Time to Shine for Homes, Businesses

Share

It’s that time of the year again for residents and business owners to spruce up their homes or offices.

Coinciding with the annual spring cleanup, the city will hold its City Pride Program in March and April to honor homes and businesses that look good and are properly maintained.

Awards will be given for the best-looking homes in each of the city’s 13 residential areas and the best-maintained businesses in the general commercial, commercial office and light-industrial zones.

Community development analyst Bruce Barrette said judging will be based on landscaping, fences, driveways and overall appearance. There will be a first-prize winner and three honorable mentions for both the homes and businesses.

The winners will be honored at a ceremony in City Hall.

The residential areas are Old Town West, Old Town East, Greenbrook, College Park North, Country Square, Apartment Row, Old Dutch Haven, Carrier Row, New Dutch Haven, Suburbia, Royal Oak Mobile Park and Highlands.

Barrette said Briggeman Disposal will hold the last spring cleanup collection from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 13.

Briggeman and city employees will help residents unload bulky items such as refrigerators and sofas, he said.

The drop-off area is one block east of Los Alamitos Boulevard, on Sausalito Avenue. Only Los Alamitos residents will be accommodated.

Proof of residency will be required, Barrette said.

Barrette said residents and business owners interested in judging may contact him at (310) 431-3538.
