Dog bites--more than 3,000 are reported here each year--are not taken lightly. Marie Hullett-Curtner of the county animal shelter says a dog bite investigation could take up to five months. . . . “We’ll contact the owner several times,” she says. “What we’re looking for is a demonstration that they will take responsibility for the pet.”
