Bad weather in the Eastern United States resulted in the cancellation of several racing programs Sunday.

Racing at Turfway Park at Florence, Ky., was canceled for the second consecutive day because the track surface became unsuitable. Turfway also canceled programs in all or part because of weather on Feb. 14, Feb. 15 and last Thursday.

“It is unfortunate that we lost the entire weekend, but the safety of the horses and the jockeys is our foremost concern,” track president Mark Simendinger said.

Aqueduct in New York canceled its program, including the Sporting Plate Handicap, because of snow that began falling during the afternoon. The Charles Town track in West Virginia called off its nine-race card because of morning snow.

Laurel Race Course at Laurel, Md., called off a 12-race program, and Beulah Park at Grove City, Ohio, canceled its program.
