Gateway Communications Inc.: The Irvine computer products company reported a profit of $609,000, or 12 cents a share, for 1992, contrasted with earnings of $57,000, or 1 cent a share, for the previous 12 months. Annual revenue fell 11% to $20.8 million from $23.5 million. The company said its sales have been hurt by price wars in the personal computer industry. It has cut its work force and operating costs, and it has made a greater investment in new product development. For the fourth quarter, Gateway posted a profit of $94,000, or 2 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $693,000, or 15 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier.
