Education and Minorities

A “grito” (shout) of support and agreement for Navarrette’s article. Many Hispanic professionals have firsthand experience with the problems of economic disparity. Those of us on the front lines, especially private sector and small business professionals, have heard the wake-up call loud and clear. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the progress and equality that education promised us has been disappointing at best.
Equal pay for equal work still escapes many Hispanic professionals throughout our nation. Those of us who have sacrificed the most will be called upon to sacrifice more to achieve the American dream.
Our government officials need to listen to the “alert” sounded by Navarrette. Allowing economic disparity to continue runs counter to the spirit of teamwork and fair play espoused by our new President.
If our small numbers of educated Hispanics fail to achieve economic equality, the effect will surely be the final nail on society’s coffin that will end the American dream for our nation.
