LOS ANGELES : Crowd at Fatal Shooting Scene Hurls Rocks at Police
A fatal shooting at a liquor store in South-Central Los Angeles brought out a crowd of spectators who pelted arriving police with rocks and bottles Thursday night, police said.
The crowd, estimated at 20 to 50 people, was dispersed within 20 minutes “by a heavy show of force,” said Sharyn Michelson, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman. One officer suffered a minor injury, she said.
Details of the shooting at Fairway Liquor at 54th and Hoover streets were initially unclear. Police had not immediately determined whether the victim was an employee of the liquor store or a customer. Officers combed a one-square-mile area around the crime scene.
