Two Ventura County legislators have selected honorees in the California Legislature’s Women of the Year program.

Assemblyman Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard) has selected Linda Plaks, a Moorpark businesswoman and civic leader, for the honor in the 37th Assembly District.

And state Sen. Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley) has selected Oxnard resident Dee Plew in the 19th Senate District.

Plaks is a former president of the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. Her civic activities have included organizing a relief effort for riot-damaged businesses in Los Angeles and helping to stage a walk to feed the hungry.

She was named Moorpark Citizen of the Year in 1990.

Plew has been active in several community groups, including the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, the Ventura County Economic Assn. and United Way. She was the 1991 chairwoman of the Gold Coast Walk America and co-chairwoman last year.

Plaks and Plew will be honored on March 15 in Sacramento at a ceremony hosted by the Legislature’s Women’s Caucus. Each member of the Legislature selects an outstanding woman to be honored in the program.
