Walnut : Auto Anti-Theft Plan Starts

Share

The Walnut Sheriff’s Station is taking sign-ups for a new program in which residents give patrol officers the right to stop their vehicles between 1 and 5 a.m., which are the peak hours for car thefts.

Under the program, deputies can stop cars that have a special decal, which indicates that the vehicle is not usually operated in the early morning hours.

The program is available to residents of Diamond Bar, San Dimas and Walnut, as well as the surrounding unincorporated areas of Azusa, Covina, Glendora and Rowland Heights.

The nationwide program, Combat Auto Theft, is sponsored by the Automobile Assn. of America and its affiliates.
