SCR Winners: Nancy Crawford, a Santa Barbara-based former screenwriter who says she became disillusioned with Hollywood after getting two movies made there, has won South Coast Repertory’s fifth annual California Playwrights Competition, netting $5,000 for her dark comedy “Mrs. Zelinski Comes to Call,” since renamed “Kaminsky Comes to Call.” The $3,000 second prize went to former TV writer Cecilia Fannon of Newport Beach for another comedy, “To Distraction.”
