Datum Inc.: The Anaheim manufacturer of precision frequency and timing instruments posted a loss of $2.2 million, or 89 cents a share, for 1992. That contrasted with earnings of $697,000, or 28 cents a share, for 1991. Sales declined 14% to $27.3 million from $31.6 million. For the fourth quarter, the company lost $1.8 million, or 70 cents a share, on revenue of $6.6 million. A year earlier, it reported a profit of $125,000, or 5 cents a share, on sales of $7.7 million. The company said the loss for the latest period was largely the result of a pretax, $1.8-million loss on discontinued operations.
