The Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday was investigating reports of shots fired into five homes in Rancho Santa Margarita and Mission Viejo.

No one was injured and no one has been arrested, although Lt. Dick Olson said the same person may be responsible for all five of the Monday night incidents.

Shots were fired about 8 p.m. at a home on Sarracenia in Rancho Santa Margarita. A resident said someone fired through an upstairs bathroom window into the attic. Also, a resident on Via Solano reported that a shot had been fired through a window of a rear upstairs bedroom sometime during the night.

In Mission Viejo, a resident in the 23000 block of Villena said several shots were fired into the side of a home sometime between 10 and 11 p.m. None of the bullets went through the wall.

During the same time span, shots were also reported fired into a home in the 28000 block of Somerset, setting off a burglar alarm.

Another shot was fired into an unoccupied guard shack located on a new construction site on Alicia Parkway just south of Olympiad Road, Olson said.
