NORTHRIDGE : Remains May Be of Missing Mother

Share

Investigators believe skeletal remains uncovered in a shallow grave in the Angeles National Forest may be those of a Northridge woman missing for more than a year, Los Angeles County sheriffs deputies said Wednesday.

Homicide investigators have found similarities between teeth recovered in the grave and incomplete California dental records for Kimberly Pandelios, 20, who disappeared on Feb. 27, 1992, Sgt. Ron Spear said.

Pandelios, a mother and part-time model, was last heard from when she called her baby-sitter to say she was on her way to the Burbank-Glendale area for a photo shoot, officials said.

Los Angeles police said Pandelios’ black 1990 Plymouth Laser was found about 1:45 a.m. the next day on Angeles Forest Highway near the Monte Cristo Campground north of Altadena.

A hiker found the skeletal pieces on March 3, about a mile and a half from where the car was recovered, officials said. Investigators are waiting to see complete dental records, recently mailed from Pennsylvania, before making a final decision on whether the bones are hers.
