CHATSWORTH : Driver Killed as Car Runs Off Freeway
An 82-year-old man died in Chatsworth when his car ran off the Simi Valley Freeway west of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, authorities said Thursday.
The California Highway Patrol said the cause of the accident was unknown. Witnesses reported that the Glendale man, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, had been heading east at about 90 miles an hour before the accident happened, according to police.
The car ran off the highway and rolled over, coming to rest about 100 feet from the road, police said. The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the car.
The coroner’s office said the cause of death was also unknown.
