Fighting TV Violence: Americans for Responsible Television (ART) has launched a campaign urging Congress to pass legislation reducing the amount of TV violence during children’s viewing hours. Citing a recent study by George Gerbner that TV violence during children’s viewing hours has reached a record high of 32 acts an hour, Michigan-based ART President Terry Rakolta said her organization is asking Congress to help provide children a safer and healthier “electronic neighborhood.” The organization’s campaign includes letter-writing and petition-signing by ART members, lobbying key members of Congress and forming “a broad-based coalition of activist groups.”
