State Preservation Foundation Honors Southland Projects : State Preservation Foundation Honors Five Projects in Southland Region

Sixteen preservation projects throughout California were honored at the 10th annual Design Awards of the California Preservation Foundation.

In the Los Angeles area winners were the Japanese American Museum in Los Angeles (James McElwain), Pasadena’s Castle Green (William Washington Ellinger), Church of the Angels (Richard Rose) and the Elysian Park Historic Open Space Study (Amy Anderson).

Riverside’s Mission Inn was also among the winners (Architectural Resources Group).

The jury, chaired by Stead Craigo, acting state historic preservation officer, included Alan Hess, architectural critic for the San Jose Mercury, architect Ruth Todd, landscape architect Helaine Kaplan Prentice and architectural historian Michael Rowe.
