World IN BRIEF : SUDAN : Cease-Fire Declared by Government

The government declared a cease-fire to Sudan’s long civil war. The move came two days after the main rebel group pledged to stop fighting before peace talks expected to be held next month. The official Sudan News Agency quoted the army general command as saying the cease-fire was aimed at creating a good atmosphere for the negotiations in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
