Los Angeles School Reforms

Share

March 12 was norming day at many LAUSD high schools. That’s the day when the actual number of students enrolled is matched to the number of teachers on campus.

The ratio of students to teachers is over 38.5. The enrollment at Sylmar High School was down; therefore, it was determined three teachers would have to go, affecting the programs of hundreds of students. True to its management style none of the four assistant principals or the principal at our high school was cut. The ratio of administrators to students at our high school is approximately 360 to 1. Cutting one of them would have affected no students.

You tell me, where’s the priority?
